A Word From Our President :
Dear ASMP Dallas Chapter members,
Our programs have featured an impressive list of professionals – including Susan Carr, Blake Discher, Todd Joyce, Al Satterwhite and Charles Cohen – to educate us primarily in smart business practices. We have met at our Informal 100 ppi’s, championed by Melody Hamilton, and the board has gathered for open meetings at the studio and kitchen of Donald Wristen, whose hospitality has given us a feeling of home.
Through Gary McCoy, ASMP has supplied speakers to both the Art Institute and Collin College, which has been a rewarding experience for all involved. We all can take pride in these accomplishments, for our members give us the momentum to achieve success. Thank you!
We wrap up the year with a Christmas party that the board has worked hard to produce. Join us as we toast a year well spent on Thursday, December 10, at the Ghostbar in downtown Dallas while listening and dancing to the sounds of the jazz/indie/salsa fusion band, Luv Bus, that also plays Johnny Cash covers. From 7 until 9 p.m. we will have the entire venue to ourselves, so I encourage all of you to join us high above Dallas to enjoy the moment and raise a glass to the future!
The New Year looks to be our best yet. Donald Wristen has informed me that 2010 marks the 30th anniversary of ASMP Dallas and we have some programs that we think you will enjoy! The first lecture planned for spring is North Texas Women in Photography, with four Dallas visual artists that, when combined, embody a wide spectrum of styles. In addition, we are planning to sign up for National’s DPbestflow presentation. For a sneak preview, click here.
Finally, on a personal note, as a former Seventh Fleet sailor, I would like all of us to take a moment to wish the men and women wearing this country’s uniform, no matter where they are, a bit of peace and god speed in bringing them home safely.
Best wishes for a joyful holiday season and cheers to the next year!
